United States Green Building Council (USGBC)
Hanson Building Products is proud to be a member of the USGBC, under the LehighHanson name. The USGBC is an excellent source for information on everything relating to green building and is also home to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. All of Hanson’s products qualify for contribution to at least one LEED credit.
Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC)
Hanson Building Products is also proud to be a member of the CaGBC. The Canadian Green Building Council is the Canadian equivalent of the USGBC and has the same mandate.
Green Globes
A Web-based green building performance tool from Canada, Green Globes, has been introduced to the U.S. market as an alternative to the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED(R) Rating System.
World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)
The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) is a CEO-led, global association of some 200 companies dealing exclusively with business and sustainable development. The Council provides a platform for companies to explore sustainable development, share knowledge, experiences and best practices, and to advocate business positions on these issues in a variety of forums, working with governments, non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations. Members are drawn from more than 30 countries and 20 major industrial sectors. The Council also benefits from a global network of some 60 national and regional business councils and regional partners.
The Brick Industry Association (BIA)
BIA is the national trade association representing distributors and manufacturers of clay brick and suppliers of related products and services. Technical Note 48 Sustainability and Brick and Builder Notes (Issue 5) "Brick: Green Building Design and Sustainability" are recommended for additional information on brick and sustainable design.
Clay Brick Association of Canada
The Clay Brick Association of Canada has prepared information of particular interest for the Canadian market, including documents related to clay brick and sustainability.
National Home Builders Association's National Green Building Program
The National Green Building Program offers several resources and tools to help builders, remodelers, home building associations, and homeowners learn how to build green, and its benefits.
The American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA)
The American Concrete Pipe Association is the national trade association representing concrete pipe manufacturers in the US. The ACPA recently released a new ePipe, which is an informational document covering sustainable aspects of concrete pipe.
The National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA)
The NPCA represents manufacturers of plant produced precast concrete products and companies that provide the equipment, supplies and services to make these products. As a follow up to their popular “The Little Book of Concrete”, the NPCA recently released “The Little Green Book of Concrete”, an informative and fun introduction to the sustainable qualities of precast concrete products.
Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute(ICPI)
ICPI is the North American trade association representing the interlocking concrete paving industry. ICPI is considered the leader in development and dissemination of technical information on interlocking concrete pavers for design professionals, contractors and homeowners. Refer to the sustainability section for a range of articles and technical resources on LEED, permeable pavements, pavement design and other sustainable uses of concrete pavers. Hanson Building Products is an active member of ICPI.
Portland Cement Association (PCA)
Founded in 1916, the Portland Cement Association represents cement companies in the United States and Canada. It conducts market development, engineering, research, education, and public affairs programs.
CEMBUREAU
CEMBUREAU, the European Cement Association based in Brussels, is the representative organization of the cement industry in Europe. The Association acts as spokesperson for the cement industry before the European Union institutions and other public authorities, and communicates the industry’s views on all issues and policy developments with regard to technical, environmental, energy and promotional issues.
